Yankee explained

Four selections, eleven bets: six doubles, four trebles, one four-fold. Two winners start paying.

A Yankee spreads four selections across all eleven multi-bets they can form: 6 doubles + 4 trebles + 1 four-fold. Minimum two legs must land before anything returns; the payout curve then steepens sharply with each extra winner.

Eleven units is real money for the insurance offered. The honest comparison is against four separate doubles or a plain four-fold: the Yankee wins that comparison only when your picks cluster around evens and you genuinely expect two-or-three winners more often than four.

Worked example

£1 Yankee (£11) on four picks at 2.00. Two winners: one double pays £4 — £7 net loss. Three winners: 3 doubles (£12) + 1 treble (£8) = £20 — modest profit. All four: £12 + £32 + £16 = £60. The structure pays for near-misses with most of the jackpot.
