አማርኛ A unit is a personal standard stake, typically 1–2% of bankroll. Tipsters and record-keepers quote profit in units ('+14.2u') because it separates judgement from wallet size: +14 units means the same thing whether a unit is £2 or £200.
Units also expose staking discipline. A record quoting '10-unit locks' and '0.5-unit longshots' is telling you confidence varies wildly bet to bet — which historically correlates with records that stop being published.
Worked example
Bankroll £1,000, unit 1% = £10. A season ending +18.4u made £184 at flat stakes. Our own published record uses flat 1-unit staking for exactly this reason — the number cannot be inflated by resizing bets after good runs.
