Dutching explained

Splitting stakes across several outcomes so any winner returns the same profit — coverage, not arbitrage.

Dutching spreads your stake over two or more outcomes in proportion to their odds, so whichever wins pays the same amount. Backing three correct scores or two goalscorers this way turns several opinions into one position with a known return.

The trap is mistaking coverage for safety: the outcomes you did NOT cover still lose the entire stake. Dutching below 100% combined implied probability is not arbitrage — it is a normal bet whose loss branch is everything outside your set.

Worked example

Back 1-1 at 7.0, 2-1 at 9.0, 1-0 at 10.0 with a total of £20 split 8.87/6.90/6.21... any of the three landing returns ≈£62 (implied coverage ~32%). The other 68% of scorelines lose all £20 — that is the bet you actually placed.
